Been using torque lately and monitoring my driving habits as of late and one thing I’ve noticed is I rarely ever exceed 50% throttle. I’ll hold a lower gear longer and let the revs climb but it’s usually at a slower rate than hammering down. So I’m curious if this is normal or am I doing it wrong?
I did decide to get a little rev happy this evening and let the peppy 2.7L v6 dohc breath a bit more as I was told it’s a happier engine when it gets to rev. And I’ll safe it felt lively and like it wanted more.

Pretty much on any on ramp.
“Only doing forty here. Better gun it so I can hit 100 and merge safely.”
Shortly followed by a VQ symphony.

My current DD (SC Tacoma) makes way more power than the chassis can really handle, so... not often. When I do, in case of an emergency merge or something, I’m pretty sure I get 5 degrees of squat and 15 degrees of twist, and the engine sounds like it’s dying. Toyota somehow figured out how to make a supercharger sound -bad-

2-3 times a week. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean hitting redline unless hooning or escaping bad situations.

Everyday when using on-ramps and passing on the highway because diesel Jetta’s are slow.
Sometimes I do it in the Yukon just because the V8 sounds nice under WOT.

If it’s just me in the car, whenever the opportunity arises. I probably drive the Skoda too hard, but I enjoy it every timetime I floor it. The Land Rovers on the other hand need full throttle because otherwise they’d not hit 70.

Pretty much every time it’s safe to do so. Especially in tunnels. Mmmmmmm, tunnels.
